Farm to ECE Components
- Local foods are purchased and served to children
- Children eat foods that are grown onsite
- Children participate in cooking activities
- Classroom nutrition and agriculture education
- Outdoor learning space
- We grow food onsite
- Composting
- Family engagement nutrition activities
- Children participate in growing, harvesting, and preparing foods from the school gardens. This program allows them to learn through play, pursue their own likes and interests, develop a sense of responsibilty for themselves and others, and explore independently all while using real life applications of their academics. We love integrating our Farm to School program in various daily activities as a way to emphasize the impact that Outdoor Learning has on students and teachers. Students thrive on the added responsibilities as they grow alongside our Farm to School Program by learning to use small garden tools (shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, etc) under direct supervision and even leading younger students in garden activities!
Garden Type(s)
- Outdoor garden beds
- Fruit trees or bushes
